This was the Martin County ARES/RACES ARRL Field Day 2001 site at Sandsprit Park. This park is located on the Manatee Pocket of the St. Lucie Inlet. (Click here for the BIG picture.)

We would especially like to thank Florida Outdoors for their cheerful donation of the RV and trailer for the weekend. The owners of Florida Outdoors were very generous and it made for an absolutely wonderful event.

We would also like to thank Florida Power and Light and Don Hartsfield, WB4FSU, for the propane powered generator. The power was reliable and the generator was nice and quiet.

We would be remiss if we did not give thanks to the folks at Cubex for the use of the 2 meter / 6 meter quad that gave Ben, N4BG, the operating advantage for a big run on 6 meters Sunday morning.

Lastly, but not leastly, we would like to thank Martin County Parks and Recreation Department and Martin County Emergency Services for their support of our organization.

How could we possibly have an event like this without people like Walt, KG4AJC. He fed us well all weekend long from his Choo-Choo grill. His chicken and green beans are beyond belief and I'm sure we all look forward to the next outing.

Great job with the french fries, Walt!

We always try something new and this year it was PSK31, an HF digital mode. Thanks to Jim, KG4JCR, for the use of the laptop. The setup is fairly simple. You run software in the laptop which takes advantage of the soundcard to decode and encode the modulation of a 31.25 Hz wide signal. The computer makes it easy to make contacts and then you just put it in the log. We made over 50 contacts on 20 meters with PSK31.
