Q. What simple, inexpensive antennas have consistently outperformed verticals, dipoles, loops & even yagis mounted at the same (low) height above ground on long-haul DX?

A. The WW3K HALF-SQUARE!

Q. What is a “Half-Square”?

A. It is a Bi-Directional, Lambda (Full Wavelength), Dual-Driven Element, Monoband, High-Gain, SCV (Self-Contained Vertical),
High-Gain antenna which, when properly constructed, offers:

1. Reduced ground losses yielding extremely high efficiencies (up to 600% more efficient than the best commercially available ground-mounted vertical costing
hundreds of dollars more!)

2. Big-Gun DX performance at low cost, with no need for expensive (dangerous) towers, rotators, etc.

3. Direct 50 ohm coaxial cable match, with no need for a balun

4. Offers both QRN and QRM suppression

5. Radiating portion of antenna is high to both clear rf obstructions, and reduce ground absorption (wasted power.)

6. Unobtrusive, stealthy & portable; suitable for “restricted” locations.

7. Broadbanded; can work entire SSB or CW portion of the band with NO
tuner required (entire band between 2:1 SWR points in most installations.)

8. Extremely low Take-Off-Angle (TOA) for maximum DX angle of incidence;
Broad Beamwidth; Superior side rejection; Impressive gain figures; High
angle suppression

9. Easy Installation; only two supports (typically trees, poles, houses, etc.) needed.

10. Much less height required for low TOA than with dipoles or yagis as shown in the chart below:

BAND----DPL./YAGI HT. NEEDED-----HALF-SQUARE HT.
10 meters-----50-75 feet-----vs.------Only 13 feet!
15 meters-----60-90 feet-----vs.------Only 18 feet!
20 meters-----70-100 feet----vs.-----Only 25 feet!
40 meters-----100-200 feet---vs.----Only 35-50 feet!

11. Compact and Space-Conserving; requires only slightly greater horizontal area than a 1/2 wave dipole!

12. No radials or counterpoise required!

Q. What kind of gain figures can I expect to obtain?

A. Up to 6dB broadside, low (<20degree) TOA, at a 60-75 degree Beamwidth, with up to 10-15dB side rejection (depending upon mounting, terrain, obstructions.)

Q. What makes WW3K HALF-SQUARES better than the competition?

A. Many reasons! To name a quick few:

1. Made in the U.S.A. by an “Active” Radio Amateur & Avid Contester
(made by a Ham For Hams!) Remember: “Professionals” built the
Titanic, but an “Amateur” built the Ark!

2. Only the finest materials are used in construction:
- Budwig HQ-1 35% glass filled ABS copolymer coax connector offers
18,000 psi tensile strength
- Coax fitting protected by an integral Rain Drip Shield
- Flexible, Pre-Stretched, black insulated #14 stranded copper wire won’t
kink & snap
- All electrical connections are soldered, not twisted & crimped
- Insulation on the elements prevents oxidation & detuning; adds stealth;
increases life of the radiating elements

3. All antennas are hand assembled + TESTED before being packed &
shipped. Only very minor field adjustments may be necessary.

4. Competitively Priced!!! (Generally much lower than the “competition”)

Mounting Configuration

MOUNTING CONFIGURATION:

TAKES UP NO MORE SPACE THAN A 1/2 WAVE DIPOLE!!!

You may trim or lengthen) the ends (BOTTOM VERTICAL TAILS) of the
Vertical Radiators, AN INCH OR LESS AT A TIME, SAME AMOUNT BOTH
TAILS, to obtain desired SWR at the height you would like to mount it.

ADDED BONUS!!!!! You can mount AN ADDITIONAL WW3K HALF-SQUARE
1/8 Wavelength in IN FRONT OF (DIRECTOR) AND/OR
1/8 Wavelength BEHIND (REFLECTOR) for additional
GAIN & DIRECTIVITY, and UP TO 30dB F/B!!!

KEEP THE HORIZONAL PHASING LINE THE SAME
LENGTH, AND CUT YOUR PARASITIC TAILS AS
FOLLOWS:

DIRECTOR TAILS: 5% SHORTER THAN DRIVEN
REFLECTOR TAILS: 5% LONGER THAN DRIVEN
