WELCOME TO WU4O'S

 HOME PAGE !

Hello my name is Jeff Baker. I have been involved in ham radio since 1998 and currently hold an Extra class operator's license.  My former call was KG4ENR.   My Qth (ham lingo for where I live) is Powell, TN. It is a small community just North of Knoxville, Tennessee.

I am currently active on all hf bands (except 160 m) but I tend to favor the higher bands. I really like the 10 meter band when it is open. I am also active on 6 meter (ssb and cw and some fm) and do some fm satellite work mainly AO-27, UO-14 and SO-35. Recently I have been working some of the digital modes. I bought a refurbished laptop and a rigblaster. I have been very active on PSK-31and SSTV and have worked a little Mfsk 16. My shack consists of a Yaesu ft-920 with a MFJ auto-tuner extender and a Yaesu ft-736r. My antenna is an 80 meter dipole, fed with ladder line into a 4:1 balun. It is hung as an inverted v due to space constraints and is up about 50 ft or so. I also have a 3 element 10 meter beam up about 30 ft. I just recently bought a used M2 3 element 6 meter beam and hope to become more active on 6 meters.

I am a member of the Radio Amateur Club of Knoxville (RACK), the East Tennessee DX Association, ARRL, and ARES. I am currently the web master for the East Tennessee DX Association and I hope you will also visit their web site when you are done here. I am also a Fists member. Fists is a great group and I took advantage of the fists buddy program to increase my code speed. ( Thanks to Maggie WP2T).

My address in the call books are good and if you work me feel free to drop me an email and say hello. Check out some of my links on the link page. The ETDXA web site has a ton of info on it and if you have an questions about the site or ham radio drop me a line.
