UKCARC MEETING 1 September, 2002
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8:30 A.M. BY Vice-President Beth Rogers
1. REPORTS OF OFFICERS: Treasurer $858.74. Members present:
KC7BUC Elmer, N7XEQ Craig, KD7ZQD Beth, WA7HNH Jack, KC7ZUM Ray, KB7XQ Bill, AA7PR Dick, KI7AO Bill, KD7MDX John, Gail, and KD7OZN Mike.
2. COMMUNICATIONS: The secretary will send cards to Hazel, Ralph, and Jim. The members of the club express their sorrow and condolences to Ralph Rockey and his son Jerry and daughter Diane and their families for the loss of Beverly. She will be missed by all that knew her. Also a hope for a speedy recovery to Hazel Moore and also to Jim Flint.
3. COMMITTEES: The ham class for this year is set to start September 11th. It will be held at the Ellensburg Fire Station on the old Vantage Hiway. Contact Bill Bowden, Boyd Rear or Gloria Sharp if you or anyone you know is interested. The Cle Elum Ridge run will be on September 21st. Jack will take Jim’s spot this year. Contact Elmer if you are interested in helping out.
4. OLD BUSINESS: The 100 mile run went quite well as far as communications were concerned. Elmer can’t imagine someone pay $130.00 to go out and torture their body like that. I agree. A lady that was a runner and writes articles for a running magazine commented to Craig that the communications were the best she had ever seen on one of these events. Thanks to all that participated.
5. NEW BUSINESS: The KCRA group will change the PL tone on all their repeaters to 131.8 effective 1 September. The new 147.36 radio and controller are installed at Sky Meadows and appear to be working very well. Thank youespecially Harold who has put many hours into this project. Bill has been called to see if we are interested in doing communications for the Yakima River Cleanup on October 5th. Anyone interested contact Bill.
6. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: KSAR is happy with the results of APRS so far and are going to do some more training with it so they will be ready for the winter resues The secretary is going to check on a dinner at the Homestead on September 28th. All will be notified if this is available for that date.
