UPPER KITTITAS COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

UKCARC MEETING 4 May, 2003

 MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8:25 A.M. BY President Beth Rogers

  

1. REPORTS OF OFFICERS:  Treasurer $889.38                                        Members present:

 KC7ZUM Ray, KI7AO Bill, W7TXU Jim, WA7HNH Jack, KB7ZYI Peggy, KB7ZYJ Charles,       N7XEQ Craig, KC7ZQD Beth, WB7TMV Charlie, KD7MDX John, and KK7VL Jim.

  

2. COMMUNICATIONS:  None

  

3. COMMITTEES: The Runner Stumbles race will be July 6th. The 100 mile race will be August 23rd and 24th. Bill, KI7AO, is setting up people for the various positions. The Whiskey Dick race will the 3rd Sunday in July. Larry, N7KGS, is setting up the postions for that one. Elmer, KC7BUC, will be back around the 15th of May and he will be looking for help on the Cle Elum ridge 50K run.

  

4. OLD BUSINESS: A report on the ARES conference last Saturday held at the Ellensburg High School. Members from 7 or 8 counties were there. The tone of the discussion was digital communications. Digital communications on the up coming 100 mile race was discussed.

  

5. NEW BUSINESS: KC7REM sent out information on the request from Power companies to use amateur frequencies to send rf over the power lines.

Some of the counties are considering forming combined ARES/RACES groups. Bill, KI7AO, and Larry, N7KGS, are going to get together with sheriff Dana to get his views on this subject.

  

6. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: The Echolink system seems to be working well on the repeater. I have changed the Echolink disconnect code to 73.

Craig, N7XEQ, has his permit in hand now to erect his tower.

Last but surely not least, club charter member Emmitte Woods, KA7NEH, suffered a heart attack last week. He is back at home now and taking it easy for a while. We all wish him a speedy recovery.
