UKCARC MEETING March 6, 2005

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8:15 A.M. BY President Ray Killan

REPORTS OF OFFICERS: Treasurer $938.60

Members present: N7GWB Dave, N7FQR Bud, W7TXU Jim, KB7ZYI Peggy, KB7ZYJ Charles, N7XEQ Craig, K7RZS Phil, KK7VL Jim, KD7MDX John, KD7DGB Jul, Barbara, KC7ZUM Ray, and WA7HNH Jack.

COMMUNICATIONS: It was brought up that the hamfest season is starting. Puyallup is 12 March, Yakima is 16 April, and Sea-Pac is 17-19 June for starters.

COMMITTEES: It has been reported that the Yakima Canyon Marathon is still in need of communications help on 2 April. Contact KI7AO or W7TXU if you are interested in helping.

WA7HNH gave a report that is relayed from KI7AO and WA7GYD on the meeting they had with N7LHL at the hospital in Ellensburg. They were told there would be a 2 meter single band and a 440 single band radio and also a 2m/440 dual band mobile in Ellensburg. A commercial installation will be done by a contractor from the Westside. They should be in late summer or early fall.

KC7ZUM relayed WA7GYD’s presentation on the differences between ARES and RACES. It was an interesting report.

OLD BUSINESS: Jack is still working on getting the club re-affiliated with the ARRL.

NEW BUSINESS: Jack advised that anyone interested in doing level I of the ARRL communications course, registration opens at 0001 hours EST. You need to get in early to make it before the class fills.

KD7MDX and WA7HNH had talked about the possibility of getting some embroidered jackets. John is checking into the costs and process to get them. Also there seems to be some interest in the lower county also. It would be nice to figure a consolidated emblem and make them a county club jacket vice one club or the other.

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: KC7ZUM asked about interest in doing a field day this June but the interest was not there today anyway.

W7TXU talked about the Labor Day parade and thought if we weren’t going to do the communications maybe we as a county effort should put an entry in the parade.
