UKCARC MEETING 6 January, 2008

  

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8:19 A.M. BY President Bill Lowery                

 

REPORTS OF OFFICERS:  Treasurer $1770.14

 

Members present: KC7KEM Mike, KI7AO Bill, N7XCJ Mary Jo, KB7XQ Bill, WA7HNH Jack,    KC7NTP Hazel, WB7TMV Charlie, KC7ZUM Ray, N7XEQ Craig, KC7ZQD Beth, W7TXU Jim,   K7RZS Phil, KE7GPG Iris, KD7MDX John, KE7APW Steve, Barbara, and KE7OZA Bryan.

 

COMMUNICATIONS: Jack mentioned that Don Martin, N7LXC, became a silent key on the 27th of December.

 

COMMITTEES: John, KD7MDX, gave a brief report on the special event station at the Milwaukee Depot. The committee was chosen. They are John, KD7MDX, Tom, W7USR, and Jack, WA7HNH. We will contact the Rail Board to get approval. Also it was mentioned that the ARRL needs to know 2 months ahead so it will be put in QST. Also, the callsign needs to be picked for the special event. The award has to be designed also. John was advised that Mary Petis is a lady with some of the answers.

 

OLD BUSINESS: A few county ARES members attended the going away for Steve Reinke. Steve is going to Valley Com in the Kent area. Among other presentations Bill, KI7AO, gave a plaque from the county Hams.

Bill, KB7XQ, is still working on a information list of county repeaters and simplex frequencies for new or un-familiar Hams. He hopes to have this completed for next months meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS: Jack, WA7HNH, made a motion for our Club to contribute ½ the cost of the plaque which would be $21.00. Beth, KC7ZQD, seconded and the motion was voted and approved.

Bill, KI7AO, is designing an emergency plan.

Jim, KE7CXD, is outlining a procedure for emergencies.

Bill, KI7AO, said that in the spring sometime we would have an emergency preparedness meeting.

 

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: Jim, W7TXU, gave Iris, KE7GPG, a mouse in exchange for a spider.

The Morman Church is planning a weekend crash session for getting an amateur license. The class would be tested on the same weekend after the class. More on this later.

The Red Cross is conducting shelter training the next 2 Tuesdays at the Red Cross in Ellensburg.
