UPPER KITTITAS COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

UKCARC MEETING  2 February, 2003

 

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8:26 A.M. BY Presdient Beth Rogers

 

 

1. REPORTS OF OFFICERS:  Treasurer $928.89.                           Members present:

 

N7AAW Boyd, WA7HNH Jack, KC7KEM Mike, KI7AO Bill, N7XCJ Mary Jo, KC7BUC Elmer, Margaret, KC7ZUM Ray, Mildred, W7TXU Jim, KB7WAG Glenn, N7XEQ Craig, KC7ZQD Beth,

KC7NIO Jerry, and KD7MDX John.

4. OLD BUSINESS: KSAR has amended their bylaws to allow 14 year olds to become members. The Sheriff wishes to consolidate all search groups to one group. There was a $75,000 donation to KSAR from a gentleman they had rescued a time back. KSAR is looking for a new communication van amonst other improvements for the organization.

 

 

5. NEW BUSINESS: Coming up on the 12th of February there will be a demonstration of ham radio for the local boy scouts. It will be at the JDS church on 4th street. KI7AO, KC7ZUM, W7TXU, KD7OZN, KD7MDX are going to help. All are welcome. The crew will meet at 5pm to get setup.

KSAR had a communication exercise and it went fairly well. They discovered some problems that need to be addressed. It was determined that more training was necessary for the communications crew in order that they become very familiar with the equipment they have to work with. Signals were heard by the Cle Elum APRS node from one of the participants.

KSAR will  be at Drag race on the 9th and the Hoglotpit on the 22nd.

 

 

6. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: Upcoming hamfests are Puyallup on the 8th of March, Yakima on the 12th of April and Seaside on the 14th of June.

W7TXU, Jim, will be able to start on his motorcycle this summer.
