UKCARC MEETING 1 December, 2002

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8:28 A.M. BY President Charlie Reisig

1. REPORTS OF OFFICERS: Treasurer $817.53 Members present:

KC7BUC Elmer, Margaret, KI7AO Bill, N7XCJ Mary Jo, KB7LHE Dian, KC7ZUM Ray, WA7HNH Jack, WB7TMV Charlie, AA7PR Dick, KD7MDX John, KC7NTP Hazel.

2. COMMUNICATIONS: We talked some more about tone squelch on reveivers to avoid listening to other signals on the repeater frequency.

The KCRA repeaters, 147.36, 146.72, and 442.200 are all using the 131.8 PL tone now. The controller for Sky Meadows is still out of service so there is no hangtime or squelch tail.

3. COMMITTEES: A motion was made and seconded to return to the Cottage Café next month as long as Cheryl Boutwell was going to be our waitress.

4. OLD BUSINESS: A reminder that the Rodeo City Radio Club will be meeting next Saturday at the Bar 14.

Last Saturday a communications exercise for Search and Rescue was held in Ellensburg. As well as communications there was testing of APRS equipment. There was a very good turnout. Thanks to all the folks that helped with the communications testing.

5. NEW BUSINESS: The new officers for next year take over at the January meeting. They are Beth Rogers, President, John Steffani, Vice-President, and Jack Williams, Secretary-Treasurer.

6. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: We had a demonstration of the Echolink system that is now operating on the 147.16 repeater. Ralph, N7XQL, was contacted to show how it works. We also talked to Dave, forgot his call, near Sacramento, California. Jack will open up the accepted areas to the whole world today so keep an ear open and please answer some of the folks that come on. Bill, KB7XQ, is still getting an ISP set up so listen for him in the next few days also.

The question was asked about operating in Mexico. Charlie was referred to look on the ARRL web page and all the necessary info would be there.
