Converting the Midland 882C for beacon operation.
Make sure the rig works OK in CB mode...FIRST

Replace the X102 crystal with a 9.6 MHz crystal...add
a tiny trimmer cap in series...approximate 3-12 pf

Can #1 tweaked to first IF frequency...then #2 & #3
tweaked to increase power. Use a nearby general coverage
receiver S meter to adjust to peak. Cracked slugs are a
"bear" to replace...seized ones can often be loosened
with a solder iron hot needle tip for a few seconds. Just
touch top of slug for 5 seconds or less.

The beacon message is sent by "on & off" keying of the
AM carrier.
