WO6T/SK

This page is dedicated to my dear friend and elmer, Mickey Hicks "WO6T", Mickey was a wonderful person who really cared about people. He was an inspiration to me as far as amateur radio was concerned. He took the time to show me various aspects of ham radio, and kept on me to be proficient in morse code.

Mickey Hicks became a silent key August 9, 2009. Mickey was well known as a gentleman who loved ham radio, and enjoyed instructing hams in how to properly operate their station, most of all, Mickey just wanted people to have fun in our hobby.

Mickey "WO6T" was well known as a DX er, and contester, as well as a rag chewer who usually popped up every evening on 14.270MHZ, and talked to anyone about anything. He was known globally as a great operator and a gentleman. He was maybe better known as Santa Clause on the air at Christmas time. Mickey operated every year for 10 days "Santa's work shop on the air as W6S" for 37 years, he would talk to anyone and children for over a week at Christmas time. Mickey "Santa Claus" had a way of getting children to talk to him. I loved to just sit and listen to the QSO's. He was very special to many of us because of how he touched our lives. We will for ever miss him.
