Hi, I'm Dr. Ron Akers. Welcome to my home page... well, mine and Tasha's (short for Natasha). She is a two-year-old Golden Retriever who pretty much "rules the roost" around here. A better friend, no man may claim.

I am Chiropractic Physician in the city of Cleveland, Tennessee. I am also the commander of the Patrol Reserve Division of the
Bradley County Tennessee Sheriff's Office.

  Capt. Ron Akers

Undergraduate studies at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia and at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) Degree, 1976, Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. I received my Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree in 1982.

My involvement in law-enforcement began in 1968 when I graduated from the Ohio Highway Patrol Academy in Columbus, Ohio. I served as a Trooper for over five-years, resigning my commission in 1973 to return to college and pursue the Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. Upon moving to Cleveland, Tennessee, I joined the sheriff's reserve officer program. I have served under two sheriffs and I now serve under one of the finest law enforcement officers I have ever known, Sheriff Daniel R. Gilley. At the present time I am recovering from injuries sustained in a serious auto accident which limits me to clerical and supervisory duties only.

I moved to Cleveland, Tennessee in 1976 and opened my practice of Chiropractic. My wife Lucinda has worked with me in my practice since we opened our doors. Akers Chiropractic Offices grew to include clinics in Chattanooga as well as Cleveland. At this time I am not active in practice, also as a result of the automobile accident in February, 1995. I am proud of the health care I rendered my patients and I consider each and every patient a friend.

We have three grown children and one granddaughter. Our oldest is Doug, age 29. He is a computer service technician for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga. Katrina, 26, is an attorney and lives in Niceville, Florida. Our youngest is Andrea at 25 years of age. Andrea lives here in Cleveland and works as a Communications Officer with the Bradley County Emergency Communications Service. Andrea is a real whiz with computers and seldom asks Dad's help with computing problems anymore.

And let's not forget our 6-year old granddaughter Lindsey, who enjoys visiting "Grand mama" and "Papa Doc" and loves to ride the horses.

We live on a small farm less than a mile from the Cleveland City Limit. We share our home with two "dawgs"...Natasha, the Golden Retriever and Sable, Lucinda's Pomeranian. Sable is beautiful and looks sweet and cuddly, but she is really four-pounds of bad attitude. Her growl sends 70-pound Natasha running for cover. She loves Lucinda though, and Lucinda loves her. That's all that really matters.

Outside we have two cats...Teagan and Spooky. They keep the mouse population in the barn under control. Lucinda has two horses, Socks and Delila. Socks is a 21-year old American Quarter Horse and Delila is a 15-year old Arabian mare.

Candies Creek, a 30-foot wide stream, flows through our farm and we enjoy the wildlife that populates the banks. Beavers, Groundhogs, and an occasional black bear can be seen along the water as well as migrating and local waterfowl.

This is a wonderful place to call home.

I am a member of the Bradley County Sheriff's Office "Old West Posse", a group of deputies who re-enact law enforcement of the 1880s by dressing in the costumes and carrying weapons of that period. Visit The Posse.

I love to travel, to take pictures and to write. Take a look!

"The Herd", 1998 Motor City Bowl Champions
Marshall entered the 2nd Motor City Bowl as underdogs for only the 2nd time this season.  But when the final gun sounded, The Herd had defeated the Louisville Cardinals 48-29.  Junior Quarterback Chad  Pennington (#10) threw for 411-yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.  Marshall, (12-1) is hoping for a first-ever Top-25 finish.
Go Herd!!!
