Greece
I worked in Greece 1985-1988, and got my callsign SV0GC (my initials GC in the suffix). While I had started chasing islands in California, I started activating them in Greece. My expeditions were to Evvoia, Chios, Kythira, Mykonos, and Patmos. Since I was still new to IOTA, and had the Geoff Watts directory, I would mention every once in a while that I was activating an island for IOTA, and explained the program. I did this to G3KMA, who graciously replied, "I know, Will, I'm the IOTA director." Boy, was I embarrassed! We had a good laugh about it later at the IOTA convention in Torremolinos. Besides the islands, I activated special prefixes for WPX during contests and Greek holidays.

Yo trabajé en Grecia 1985-1988, y recibí el indicativo SV0GC (mis iniciales GC en el sufijo). Cazaba islas en California, pero empecé activándolas en Grecia. Mis expediciones eran a Evvoia, Chios, Kythira, Mykonos, y Patmos. Como tenía poca experiencia en IOTA y usaba el directorio de Geoff Watts, yo mencionaría cada de vez en cuando que yo estaba activando islas para IOTA, y explicaba el programa. Yo se lo dije esto a G3KMA que cortésmente contestó "yo sé, Will, yo soy el director de la IOTA." ¡Caray, que vergüenza! Nosotros teníamos una risa buena años después en la convención IOTA en Torremolinos. Además de las islas, yo activé prefijos especiales para WPX durante los concursos y las fiestas griegas.
