Are you looking for a challenge and a chance to talk with people from around the world? Are you interested in expanding your knowledge about people and technology? If so, Ham Radio and GSNETX ARC could be for you.  Ham Radio can introduce you to interesting and rewarding careers.

GSNETX ARC is currently a small group of youth and adults located on beautiful Camp Whispering Cedars in the rolling hills covered with cedar trees in the southwest corner of Dallas County, in Dallas, Texas. (MAPSCO 62E)  The club is open to all interested, enthusiastic, currently registered Girl Scouts both youth and adult. There is no age requirement.   The QSL manager is Bill Hammon, KA5SOT.

GSNETX ARC applied with the Federal Communication Commission for an Amateur Call for the club and was granted the Vanity Call WC5GS.  Amateur Radio uses the phonetic alphabet when saying a call sign over the radio, so we would say “Whisky Charlie 5 Gulf Sierra”.  We also like the following substitute  “Whispering Cedars 5 Girl Scouts”

The GSNETEX ARC has a comfortable, secure facility on the camp. It is currently constructing a 65 foot Rohn 45 tower.  We hope to acquire permanent radios and beam antennas.  Antennas currently in use are a Cushcraft R7 and various wire antennas.  The club is active on HF, VHF and UHF using equipment loaned by members.  If any amateurs would like to donate amateur equipment please contact Bill Hammon.
