Education & Work
I graduated high school way back
in 1979 from Grayson County High School with NO interest in going
to college. I finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up and began going
to college at night in 1984 while working during the day. In 1991 I had
finished two years of course work at Elizabethtown Community College. I
transferred to Western Kentucky University and began full time the spring of
1992. I went straight through and finished with my BS in Elementary Education
in the spring of 1993. I got my Master of Arts in Elementary Education the
spring of 1999. I finished my Rank I with certification in administration in
2003. That's a lot of college for someone who had no desire to go in high
school.
The summer of 1993 I got a
teaching position in the Hardin County school system at Lynnvale Elementary
School. I taught fourth grade there for 9 years, 5th grade for one
year and 3rd grade for one year.
In January of 2003 Lynnvale Elementary and Western Elementary were
merged into a new school, Lakewood Elementary.
I spent 5 years as assistant principal.
It is hard to believe that this is my 17th year. I guess when
you like what you do and have fun it passes fast.
Beginning
this year, actually July 1, 2009 I will become Principal of Lakewood Elementary
School. It’s a job I’m very excited to
begin.
