Most of you may have already heard of them. I see that they now have their catalog online at: http://www.mi-lasers.com Note that all through their paper catalog they give this address as www.mi-laser.com (minus the 's'), which doesn't work. Walt (AJ6T) and I (WB9AJZ) completed a 670nM "CW" contact across the Santa Clara Valley. Path was from near Mt Day on the east side to the Kaiser Permanenti Cement plant on the west side. Path length was 17 miles. Alignment was much easier with the jigs we made. We aligned with spotting scopes to 6v flashlights (headlites on one end to start), then used x-y alignment screws to move lasers. Walt was easily 559, brightest object in the whole valley (as bright as the runway white flashers at the airports). Apparently my mount may have been moving in the wind as Walt indicated 50-100% rapid fades. I didn't notice this rapid fading on Walt. Walt received all the info after a few minutes of fine aligning and sufficient repeats. The whole QSO took about 2 hours, including setup. This probably would have only taken 1/2 hour but for the rx/fade problems. AND we also waited around and played with the rising "fog" from the ground to see how it played with the QSB. Plans: review Walt's rx (doesn't seem as sensitive as mine) minimize laser mount for vibration and wind effects. Coincidental note: A laser incident was in the paper here last week. Apparently someone was pointing a laser at trucks on a road. Police were called. The policeman responding saw the spot, felt heat on his cheek, saw a white light, and lost sight in one eye for a while. A hunt for the wrong doer is going on. The sizes range from miniscule to roughly 5 - 10 mm in diameter. Do they work ???? Are they visible or invisible ???? Is the price right , you bet ya... FREE !!! All you have to do is to email me (first reply gets them shipped to them) and I will let the list know of the unaviliability of them. Once again they are FREE, HERE'S THE SMALL PRINT...
