Good morning Dr. Howard.
I am trying to study and understand the motion of the signal in PCB.
And I am studying your book called "High Speed Digital Design".
If you don't mind, I want to ask two questios.

At first, in equation [1.1], I can't understand this equation.
How is it generated or from what formula?
Please show me the generation process of that equation.

The second is what difference is between period and wavelength.
If some periodic wave has the period Tp, the frequency of that wave is f = 1/Tp.
Is that right?
And the wavelength of that wave is l = Vf/f, is it right?(where the Vf = Flighting velocity)
If then l = Vf * Tp, right?

Please help me, I really want to know about the difference between wavelength and period.

You are a great help for me.

      Inmyung.
