For those who are interested, I did not find any standalone software
programs that work. But I DID find a slick, relatively low cost answer to
the problem. A company in Europe named Pico sells small modules that plug
into the parallel port and turn the PC into a scope, meter, or spectrum
analyzer. The modules range from a REALLY basic one to some that look
pretty sophisticated. I bought the basic one for seminar use and am
impressed. If anyone is interested, the URL is
