Chris,

Just for your information several new features have been added to SPEED97,
such as
 * Skin-effect loss of single and couple transmission lines is now
supported.
 * Skin-effect loss of metal plane is now supported.
 * Lossy dielectric medium
 * Computation and display of radiation from packages are added.
 * Translation from Cadence .brd file to .spd file is now supported.
 * Non-linear behavioral model( Voltage control resistor) to model switches,
transistors and diodes.
 * Batch mode simulation is now supported.
 * The speed of displaying dynamic field variations is improved by 30% to
50%.

More features will be added to SPEED2000 in April,2000

Subject: RE: [SI-LIST] : Power noise/ground bounce software

I evaluated Speed 97 back in 1997 and it looked promising for analyzing
power plane resonances and decoupling capacitor placement. At that time it
did not include losses in the copper. (Planes or signal traces.) This was
supposed to be corrected and I presume that it has been added by this time.

SPEED 97 is another one as well.

We're looking for a tool which will enable us to analyze power plane noise,
ground bounce, and bypass capacitor placement of pc board nets, ASIC
packages, etc. If possible, please share your experiences with tools you
have used to perform this analysis. A tool which has a short learning
curve
is highly preferred.

Thanks and regards,
