Just about any book on Solid State Electronics or Transistors should
have some info about this.

I have one old source:
"Solid State Electronic Devices, by Ben Streetman. (from Prentice Hall)"

In my book it is in Section 5.5 "Transient and A-C Conditions"

I believe I have also seen a more pragmatic discussion in some standard
books on the impementation of SPICE.
