Doug,

I saw this at a recent HP "Back to Basics" Test and Measurement seminar.
They make all the slide presentations and animations available on their
"Educator's Corner" web site.

This one shows the signal as a rotating vector (in 3-d graphics) moving
down a transmission line, and how the reflected signal adds with the
incident signal. It's an interactive Java applet, so you can change the
termination and see the affect on the signal. I thought it was a pretty
neat instructional tool.

The site is: http://www.tmo.hp.com/tmo/iia/edcorner/English/Sexp8.html

Subject:

I am interested in a freeware or shareware demonstration tool that
illustrates the reflections on a transmission line as a function of
termination matches/mismatches, input signal structure, etc. The purpose
is
to illustrate the problem of reflections to non-engineers who have only
a
shallow basis in the underlying theory.

Is anyone aware of where such a tool might exist?
