[SI-LIST] : IBIS Model Verification

Hi,

In a recent email, Greg Edlund suggested the need for both "CAD" and
"Physical" verification of an IBIS model. This is an excellent
suggestion, although
it is often impossible to achieve physical (or electrical) verification
of an IBIS model. This is because many IBIS models are created by means
of HSPICE
simulation, rather than by actual physical measurements. Using this
technique IC
vendors can provide the si engineers with models of components which
have not yet been
manufactured and hence unavailable for any physical evaluation.

It is interesting to note that before simulating a models as a
"driver", it requires
"calibration" (in addition to verification) to obtain the proper
Time_To_Vm value. Simulations
using uncalibrated driver models will yield incorrect timing parameters
(for example false
flight time values).

Best Regard,
