reactance of 0805 and smaller SMT resistors

I've recently learned that some brands
of surface-mounted metal film resistors
have the film on one side only. Depending
on whether you mount them "face up" or
"face down" the film is effectively suspended
at different heights above ground.
This property affects both the effective mounted
inductance and the effective mounted capacitance
of the device.
I've got no information yet on whether the
markings on the parts give you any indication of
which way is which.
Anybody else know about this?
