Dear List,

Having half of the four cards component-side-down is not a problem;
fitting the assembly into about 1.4 vertical inches is. Incidentally, other
than possibly the power connection (which could be implemented some
other way), I have no need for a base board under the riser portion.

Airflow directed at both sides should not be a problem.

If the riser is rigid, I would expect to secure it to the rear panel (in the
PCI sense of rear) and to at least one of the top and bottom plates.
Card insertions and removals would be minimal.
