Summer and Fall

Summer is a short season in Wisconsin bridging the period between the Spring Thunderstorms of April and May through to the sudden chill which announces Fall sometime between mid September and early October.   Hardy souls may go camping even into November though extensive hunting throughout the state makes this period less attractive for this kind of activity.  My daughter kicks back at Peninsula State Park in this picture from a few seasons ago.

The "wild cucumber" in the following photos is common summer visitor at Retzer Nature Center, a pleasant county park just west of Waukesha south of Highway 18 on County Road "D".

The common milkweek pod captured here on film in the same park takes on a different kind of glow in the late afternoon light as Fall transforms things from brilliant greens to various shades of brown, red, and yellow.
