Mt Hamilton to Mt. St. Helena in San Francisco Region

Mt. St. Helena is an extinct volcano about 4300 FT AMSL just north of scenic Calistoga at the north end of Napa Valley. The station was located at the 4000 FT AMSL South-East Peak.

Mt. Hamilton is about 4200 FT AMSL, located on the east side of San Jose and is the home of Lick Observatory operated by the University of California. The station was located on Observatory Peak.

Equipment used at both ends are homebrew Gunn diode transmitters were the Gunn oscillator also serves as the receive local oscillator. The Gunn oscillator is wideband Frequency Modulated with direct voice frequency signals.
