JV AWANA Trip to Enchanted Rock State Nature Area

Coming Fall 2001

ALL PARENTS ARE WELCOME

Well, it’s that time again folks, time for the annual JV AWANA trip to Enchanted Rock State Park near Fredericksburg. Should you wish to attend, and we hope you do, this trip will fulfill part of Project Ten for camping and hiking. Not only that but we have a great time! We climb rocks, hike, crawl through holes in the rocks, get poked by cactus, sunburn, windburn, skinned knees and return with a great appreciation of some of God’s creation – Great Fun!

We LEAVE from Wayside at 7:15am and arrive at Enchanted Rock about two hours later. On the way back we will stop at a Dairy Queen for refreshments. Please be at Wayside by 7:00am! We will return to Wayside between 3:30pm and 4:00pm.

What to wear and bring

WEAR: Full length pants, jeans or some other tough fabric. NO SHORTS This is for the safety of your knees and shins and for modesty, and the rules are the rules (see Rule 1). Wear shirts with sleeves, no halter-tops! (boys or girls.) You may wear short-sleeved shirt but wear a wind-breaker or long-sleeved shirt over it. It will be quite cool in the morning and if it gets warm you’ll wish you had something to remove. Bring a pull-over cap, something that will cover your ears. It will get windy as we get higher, this will prevent ear-aches from the cool wind. Wear good shoes, hiking shoes if you have them. If you don’t have hiking shoes don’t go out and buy some. Wear tennis or walking shoes. Anything with good treads on them. I don't recommend canvas shoes. Cactus thorns go right through canvas. Wear clothes that you and YOUR PARENTS don’t mind if they get damaged or ruined.

BRING: Bring a sack-lunch and water or juice, hot sodas don’t taste very good. Hint: Put a plastic soda bottle of water in the freezer. As it thaws you will have cold water. If you want to eat it or drink it YOU carry it, please do not expect your parents to carry your stuff. Bring money for Dairy Queen.
