Welcome to the Home Page
Introduction:
YB0ART is located in Kebayoran Baru, in the Blok-M area of South Jakarta, on the island of Java in Indonesia. Your YB0ART Operator, Dave, was licensed decades ago in the U.S. originally as WN4FXL, and after as (currently) WB4ONA. I am a U.S.-born Expatriate living in Jakarta. Primary interests are CW, satellites, & digital modes. You will find me once and a while on SSB voice. See below for a run-down of current station equipment.
Propagation Links (Requires Frames)
This page has frames that automatically load sites containing key near real-time propagation information and forecasts. I use it often to get a snapshot of what's going on in the solar-terrestrial environment. This page requires a browser that supports frames. Click HERE for more.
A Simple & Fast to Construct Return Loss Bridge
Here's a page describing a low-cost resistive return loss bridge circuit for use with an unbalanced generator and detector (a sweep generator and spectrum analyzer, for example). The bridge uses four resistors and a ferrite transformer core scavanged from a TV balun or splitter. I've spent very little time with this project, yet results seem quite good. The page contains schematics, construction details, and trace images of results. Click HERE for more.
Some Information on Expatriate Licensing in Indonesia:
Currently, Indonesia does not accomodate short-term reciprocal licensing. You must be an Indonesian citizen or alien resident in order to obtain an Indonesian callsign. Alien resident licenses are issued with stand-alone Indonesian callsigns. The prefix is YB for Indonesia. One number follows the prefix for the region of Indonesia in which you're licensed (0 for Jakarta). Three unique letters follow to complete your callsign. The first letter A, of the three letter suffix is reserved for resident expatriate operators; hence my Jakarta callsign: YB0ART. Alien resident licenses are valid for one year before renewal. Officially, you need a sponsor in Indonesia that is a member of the Indonesian equivalent of the ARRL, ORARI in order to obtain a recip call. IF you are already an expatriate resident in Indonesia, or plan to come to Indonesia and establish residence, E-mail me at the bottom of this page and I'll do what I can to help.
