I'm a college graduate with a BBA from GWU Business, Economics & Public Policy. I also hold a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Baruch College of City University of New York. With respect to professional certifications, I am a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) and an Accredited Purchasing Practioner (A.P.P) . I hold and have held an Advanced class FCC amateur radio license for 23 years and I have been licensed for 25 years in total (I am 37 years old). My hobbies include ham radio, photography, repairing things, and watching the SciFi Channel. Please note, ham radio is my first and foremost hobby and I find operating from New York City both challenging and exciting.
The center of Manhattan is a convenient place to live, but operating an HF station is difficult since I am limited to using covert antennas. I use hamsticks for each band mounted on a magnetic mount. Each time I change bands, I have to change the hamstick. Needless to say, I grounded the fire escape so the fire escape does serve as a true ground plane. Needless to say, I have worked DX in Europe and the Caribbean with my Kenwood TS-50S!!!
VHF is also difficult since I have at least three hospitals located two blocks away from my apartment. The paging systems, in addition to the paging systems from business in the proximity, cause a lot of intermodulation. As such, I use commercial grade equipment (Yaseu FT-2500M, Yaseu FT-7400H) to filter out "intermod alley." I also own a few dual band HT units (Kenwood TH-79AD(H) and Yaesu FT-50RH - 2 of each)
I am now trying to learn how to use packet on two meters. It really seems like a challenge to me since I have been using SSB, FM, and CW for the last 25 years.
My wife Carole, as in the case of many wives of hams, isn't interested in the hobby; however, she doen't mind me "chewing the rag" with other radio operators. My cats - Princess, Opal, and Tawny don't dislike my radios and QSO's -- the conversations and Morse Code keeps their attention.

Well, I'm not going to add anything else at this time so 73s (best wishes) to all who visit this web page which I will update periodically. This page was updated on March 22, 1999. Please visit the home page of my club the Gotham City Radio Association . I hope all who visit have a very happy, healthy and prosperous 1999!!!
