Welcome to my ham radio website. I have a great old National NC-300 rig, which my Dad bought for me when I was back in high school. I also have a:
Heathkit HW-101 (HF 5-bander)
Heathkit SB-610 station monitor
Heathkit SB-630 station console
Radio Shack HTX-202 (2-meter HT)
Radio Shack HTA-20A (2-meter amplifier)
2-meter Diamond vertical about 50 feet up
2-meter mag-mount
Radio Shack HTX-10 (10-meter mobile, transmitter problem)
10-meter mag-mount
Kenwood TH-315A (1.25-meter HT)
Alinco old 440 mobile rig (not sure of the model)
Motorola GM300 and MCX1000 for GMRS and 440 Ham
Sears deep-discharge marine battery
600-Watt inverter
I use a solar panel for trickle-charging the battery. For quicker charges, I use a Sears automatic battery charger.
As you can see from the QSL card, I used to work for Heathkit. (I don't have any more of these Heathkit QSL cards, sorry. It has been awhile since I lived in Michigan, anyway!) I also worked for BYTE magazine way back when.
Here are some of the ham-related things that I do:
- ARES
District Emergency Coordinator for Hudson County
- Cirri
Memorial Radio Club
- ARRL Certification Instructor/Mentor/Examiner for
Emergency Communications Course Levels I, II, and III, and Satellite Communications Course
- ARRL/VEC Volunteer Examiner for Amateur Radio Licensing
I also help raise both awareness of autism and money for autism research and treatment. Autism is a hidden, neglected problem, and is vastly worse than most people realize.
