Licensed in 1965 when I
just turned 15 yrs........ My Father took me to
code and ham theory classes in Dayton, Ohio and he also got his
license........Had a Drake 2-B tube receiver and Viking Ranger tube
transmitter for am and cw....... Father Joe KA8ILU and his brother Tom
W8KRM installed a 70 ft tower and a Experimental 15meter 4 element
wide-spaced mono beam for me after marginal contacts and success with a
Hygain 14AVQ vertical on roof...... WOW, I was the Luckiest kid alive to
have such a Monster setup, THANKS Dad and Uncle Tom who are Sorry too
say silent keys now...... I have LOVED this great hobby all thru the
years and really enjoy working DX on 20 and 17 meters from my current
QTH Orlando, Fla........Have a 20 year old Kenwood TS-830s , 35 year old
Drake L-4 Amplifier, TA-33 Tribander up 33 feet, and a Droopy Dipole up
50 feet for 17m ......Worked great DX on 20 meters but the band just got
to crowded so switched over to the Gentleman`s band about 6 months
ago........Was very lucky on 17M to be able work so many DX stations and
especially hooking up with the Famous UK BOYS......It has never been
more fun on ham radio for me!! ........ The UK BOYS always have
something outrageous to discuss and are always a real hoot, not to
mention there MONSTER signals coming into FLA, it really should be
Illegal ....... The 17meter band has died down and now we have gone back
to 20meters.........We meet just about every night 2.00pm est to 5.00pm est
around 14202 , known as Kilowatt Alley, COME JOIN US IF YOU DARE, but
once you check in you can't checkout of the NEW WAVE DX INSTABILITY NET,
IT'S SIMPLY A MATTER OF TRADITION...........Hope to have up on the web
pictures of my mates, their ham stations and of course my special
talented WebMistress Andrea and her hubby Julian, M0BZQ AND M0LLW ,
without their help this WEB PAGE would be impossible to say the least!!!
