Miles per Watt Contest

CQ CQ CQ CONTEST, well sort of...

During our mini field day event there will be a contest open to all operators at the event. The contest is a simple one, the prizes will be awarded based on who has demonstrated gaining the highest number of miles per watt. That does not necessarily mean the most distant contact. The formula is simple. Just take the distance between stations in the QSO and divide that distance by the output power of the rig (in watts) being used for the contact. The answer is the miles per watt for the contact.

For example, if your make a contact 1,300 miles away with an Icom 706 running at 100 watts the miles per watt equals 13. But guess what? If you happened to be running a QRP rig at 5 watts and make a contact just 75 miles away creates a miles per watt value of 15. The QRP contact would have the higher miles per watt between the two. Sorry you can't use repeater or relays in the contest.

For the purpose of this contest,IF there is a tie, the operator with the highest number of contacts will be judged the winner. A more detailed set of rules and scoring instructions will be available at the park.

The prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants. The top score will get first choice of the prizes available.
