Note from the Editor -- SARC normally does not publish a newsletter for July and August. But due to the upcoming SARC BBQ and Ice Cream Socials we are sending out this short invite and info sheet.

SARC BBQ, July 12

The July 12th BBQ will be held at Ron Ogren's (WA6PEV) home at 6pm. This is a great place with plenty of room, swimming pool and an outstanding ham station to look over. Bring something to BBQ and a dish to share (ie chips, salad, beans, etc). The pool is open. This is always a great dinner / time for an eyeball QSO. Hope to see you all there.

To get to Ron's place, head out west towards the setting sun to Brady. Turn north (right) on Brady. Ron's place is on the left, 243 Brady. Talk-in is on the SARC Translator 146.64

SARC Ice Cream Social, August 9

This year it will be held August 9 at 7pm out at Jim Leonard WA6TFZ "Saw Jim" Observatory. Bring your ice cream, pop and bowls, spoons and etc. Jim has a back yard and mini pool. Lots of radio antennas in the air. Jim also has a big CCD telescope and TV for when it gets dark enough to see planets and stuff in the sky.

To get to Jim Leonard WA6TFZ 377-3474 from "Down Town Inyokern" 178 and Brown Road, go north on Brown Road 7.3 miles to Hazen street on the left. The is a big green sign noting Saw Jim's Observatory. You will pass the big hay operation on the left and the hay barns on the right just before Hazen. Turn left on Hazen and go west one block to Robinson. Turn right and go north half a block to Saw Jim's 7220 Robinson. Talk-in is on the SARC Translator 146.64
