It was a lot of fun, even though I thought the shower was only
"fair to good". My two
regrets are that my 222 MHz system was not available, and that I
did not
spend more time looking for the guys who were running unassisted.
-- 73, Joe, K1JT
Hi Tip, couldnt operate much due to family obligations but did
manage 8 qso's. Hope you did well.
Jay K2OVS
Pretty (as in blue whizzer) good rocks for a change. Happy
holidays to all,
John W9SE
Had very little time to operate due to work schedule :-(
73
Dan
Not too bad for being able to run just the one day.
Eight of them good for RQA and the 2m with VE3SPW
was my 1st ever 2m qso into VE land!! Hope you had some
luck getting on with all the things happening on you end -
Bruce N5SIX
Was good to see the activity! 73's and Happy Holidays!
Terry WA3LTB
The newborn (now 3.5 months
old) is taking much time here but she let me work more in the MS
contest than in the
EME contest a couple of weeks ago!
Happy holidays to you guys.
Jim
Here are my Geminids Rally results. It was a lot of fun, wish
I had had more time to work them, busy time of the year. Ran
100W 5el on 6m, 450w 13el on 2m. All contacts were MS / FSK441a.
73,
Bryce
It was a pleasant contest, and I'm
glad my HF rig broke. It gave me the opportunity to work it and
bag a couple more grids.
Thanks for all your help and work. Have a very Merry Christmas
and 73,
Allen AB0SD
I suggest more points for Assisted
QSOs in which you are answering random unannounced
CQs. K4AL
was on the PJ (I didnt know he was calling CQ), and W0IOH
was not on PJ. I was on PJ just seeing how
things were going. I personally do not care for schedules. I
believe that a true DX QSO should be uncoordinated,
but at the same time it doesnt hurt to know that someone is
available or that specific conditions exist.
188 of my 191 grids on 2-Meters were accomplished without a
schedule, all of my 471 6-Meter grids were uncoordinated.
All your efforts are always appreciated. I wish I had more time
to play, I had college finals.
73s Art
I have been away for 3 weeks and just now been able to get
back to this.
Happy New Year
Bill K0AWU EN37ed
Here are my results for the WSJT December Rally. I did not
have much time available to operate during this event....
hope I can devote some more time to the next one. It was nice to
snag a few new stations toward an endorsement on the RQA.
73,
Walt AJ6T
I started the contest unassisted (no internet connection) but
after the first 3 QSOs I logged on to www.pingjockey.net for
schedules.
GABOR HORVATH VE7DXG
Thanks to the guys who would run CQ and monitor 50.260
occadionally. Flying blind (running unassisted) is less
productive, but gave the
xyl unlimited access to web shopping!
73 Will w0ioh
6 meters still down due to lightning strike and hospital time.
Would like to see more of the Southern Ca. guys look this way.
222 semed to be limited to about 1000 miles (Geminids low and
slow I guess)
Setup: 144 - 1500 w 1 - 17 el at 50' agl
222 - 1500w - 1 - 17 el a 54' agl

Final Comments from the contest managers...
What
a difference a year makes. The 2004 Winter North American Meteor
Scatter Rally
was by far the most geographically diverse to date. The number of
active grids for 2004
far eclipsed any of the previous events, spring or winter. In
addition, overall participation
is up. This may be due in part to the announcements in QST. If
you are actively hunting
new grids squares, chasing new states, or just hoping to add a
callsign to your log, this
increased activity is good news for us all.
While overall participation is up, one area has not grown; total
logs submitted. We the contest
managers would love the opportunity to complain about
the abundance of logs and awards
we must process. It will be an accomplishment when all award
categories for all time zones are
claimed.
As you can see from the results, the contest managers continue to
offer awards by time zone.
It is still the goal of the sponsors of these events to recognize
activity by region. Activity was
up considerably in the west. However, many awards went unclaimed
simply because no one
submitted a log.
The Rally was held 0000 Dec 11 to 0700 Dec 15, 2004 to capitalize
on the Geminids meteor
shower. Comments regarding the Geminids this year were mixed with
the overall consensus
that shower was not as intense as years past. Fortunately the
increased activity helped keep
the event interesting and scores elevated.
We would love to hear your comments regarding the contest and the
rules. We also hope that
you will help spread the word about the Spring 2005 Contest
during the Eta Aquarids.
On a final note, Tip (WA5UFH) has elected to take a sabbatical
from organizing the contest
announcements and data collection for the next year. Those of us
that have enjoyed this
contest venue wish to extend a hearty thanks to Tip for his
leadership and initiative in organizing
these events. Tip has handed the baton to Mike (WB2FKO) and we
look forward to Mike's
participation.
