Ode to the Wahoos -'90

They were sons of famous coaches,
Of famous preachers too,
They were known throughout the land,
As the undefeated Hoos.

They stomped on mighty Clemson,
On William and Mary too,
It seemed that there was no one,
To stop the raging Hoos.

There was talk of National Championship,
Of Heisman Trophy too,
The Richmond Times Dispatch
Sang their praises to the Hoos.

The Bowls they all did clammer,
Bryant Gumbel did so too,
It seemed that all the world,
Loved the ever winning Hoos.

They talked about their Founder,
They dreamed of fate and fame,
They thought they were the greatest,
"Bring on Notre Dame"!

So they went to little B'burg,
To whip the Techmen too,
"We'll teach those turkeys a lesson",
Thought the highly rated Hoos.

They came in their little Volvos,
It was such a lot of fun,
To joke of Hicks and Farmers,
And tractors on the run.

The game itself was started,
The evening it was fair,
The Sugar Bowl Committee,
Offered up a little prayer.

The Wahoos took to the field,
And immediately it did smell.
Not of farms and barnyards,
It was the Hoos who stank like Hell.

The Hoos stumbled and fumbled,
How could they ever last?
It seemed the invincible Yahoos,
Couldn't catch a pass.

Tech's offense and defense
Came out and played with flair.
The outcome was self evident,
As Tech Triumph filled the air.

Somewhere Hoos are happy,
Somewhere Hoos are gay,
Somewhere they sing the Good Ol Song,
To dear old U.VA.

But throughout the Old Dominion,
All Wahoos are aghast,
There is no joy in Hooville,
The Hokies KICKED THEIR ASS!

An Old Hokie
