Brief Bio

I was born and raised right here in South Florida. I got into ham radio during my freshman year of college at the University of Central Florida back in 1993. I transferred to Florida Atlantic University after two years and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in December 1996.

I took a job teaching high school statistics, math, and physics for 4 years, and then decided to try life in the private sector. I worked as a consultant for Deloitte & Touche, a Big 5 accounting and professional services firm. They were ranked by Fortune as one of the 100 best companies to work for in 1999, 2000, and 2001. While there, I mainly did IT risk and controls assessments. I was also involved in data integrity projects using ACL, Access, mySQL, and a lot of programming in SAS.

After deciding that I hated spending my life on the road, I got back into teaching in January of 2002 and am currently working my way toward becoming an assistant principal. I teach upper-level math and a course in data modeling and SQL in our school's Oracle Academy. I graduated with my masters from Florida Atlantic University in May 2003.

My wife is an elementray school teacher here in Broward county.

Ham Radio

I got my Technician ticket in the summer of 1993 right after graduating from high school. I thoroughly enjoyed working VHF and UHF, but I wanted a bit more of a challenge. During the summer of 1997, I passed the 5 and 13 wpm code tests and proceeded to upgrade from No-Code Tech to Advanced in the space of 8 weeks. What can I say, I was bored and had plenty of time to study. In our restricted community, I used to get on 20 and 17 meters through a dipole strung out my second floor window made out of 24-gauge speaker wire. Pretty stealthy and the Condo Commandos never did notice it

I am currently without HF, but am still enjoying talking around the world through the wonders of the IRLP. Not quite the same, but perfect for a computer and electronics geek like me...
