GODSPEED

The Vessel site is still being contstructed, as it will be for some time, I imagine.  But in the meantime, I will deposit some photos that will give you a
taste of things to come.

Starting at the top left and working clockwise---1)sails furled and yards cocked, 2)trade wind sailing with topsail and mainsail set, 3)St.Katherines Dock-London, 4)view looking forward with helmsman in foreground.

Here are some notes from various crew....
Pre-Voyage Preparations -  I was extremely proud when I was accepted as a
crewmember. When the Godspeed was moved to Sarah’s Creek Marina at
Gloucester Point I spent every waking moment I could with the ship. I
spent weekends aboard. I was there most evenings also. Most of my time
was spent in keeping things straight. Sweeping up sawdust and shavings
left by the carpenters. Organizing materials and telling everyone else
where I hid things. I helped with the dismantling of the ship and packing
the Conex container. I rode the ship when it was towed over to Willoughby
Spit where it was kept while waiting to be loaded as cargo aboard the
ship Stuttgart Express. After that it was waiting and a lot of hand
wringing for my turn to fly over to England.--Mike Brookman

I have a copy of the log around here somewhere that should help with the
timing of all that stuff.  Don't know where it is at the moment, and it
will be a couple of weeks before I can get to make a search for it.  Think
it is packed away WAY back in one of the storage closets -- unpacking far
enough to get to it will be a semi-major operation.  Will ask George about the water.
Think we had 175 gal in the after tank and ??? in the mid tank, plus 8-55 gal bladder
tanks that were probably filled to about 50 gal each.  Jack should fill you in on the food  --  all I can remember is the steak-and-kidney pie and that God-awful leaden English bread. And tunafish for breakfast, lunch, and supper when Jack got tired of cooking.--Joe Gowdey

Remember loading all the provisions in Felexstowe?  Getting to the boat and
having to climb down the rigging to get to the deck in the morning.  John
using his crane to help us load.   And then there was that ugly anchor
incident.  Not to mention Jack's Cuisineart that got "lost" and was "found"
when he threatened not to go without it.--Charlie Morgan
