Three Rivers Area Monitoring Association

Several years ago I started a radio net on Sunday evenings to discuss the hobby of scanning. The subject was well received by the ham radio community and much to my amazement I found out that we had quite a listening audience of non hams that tuned their scanner to the 147.090 repeater each week to see what the group was talking about.

The net grew and we started to get together at the local ham fests and even set up tables for the group to meet at and exchange ideas and talk about our favorite hobby face to face. Latter we decided that ham fests didn't come along often enough to suit us and we started gathering at a local restaurant about once a month for dinner and more conversation. When there got to be a core group of people who came each month it was inevitable that someone suggested that we turn the informal gatherings into a club.

And thus was born the Three Rivers Area Monitoring Association. We are a group of hobbyists that enjoy monitoring the RF spectrum. Our member listen to everything from DC to daylight! While most of us came as a result of an interest in listening to public safety radio with a scanner we have several members who are very active short wave listeners. One of our members has a map of the United States and is trying to receive AM broadcast band stations from every state.

If this group interests you and you would like to join us send me email and I will give you the details of where and when the monthly meetings are held.

We also maintain a mailing list on Yahoo for the group.  You are invited to join the list and tap into all the good information that flows back and fourth between members.
