Scanning the VHF/UHF radio spectrum can be loads of fun. I have been
listening to public safety radio long before the general public heard of
the word "Bearcat". As a teenager I took an old Motorola model Twin
V, which in a previous life had served as two way communication in
a taxi cab, and retuned it to the main Pittsburgh City Police frequency.
It was a mobile radio that had tubes and had to be run from an old car battery
and if I remember correctly the new crystal cost me a small fortune, at least
in teenage dollars. But listening was fascinating and it started me
in a hobby that remains to this day.
As I continue to build this page I will add a list of the frequencies that
I listen to on a regular basis and several links to information resources
about the hobby. Stop back again and check for updates.
Here are some GREAT
scanner links.
