Civil War ReEnacting

Updated 11/29/97

My friend Bill, KD2GI is a Civil War Reenactor. Here are some views of

reenactments which were staged in the upper Hudson River Valley region during

the summer of 1997. The detail which goes into some reenactments is fascinating.

Many of the reenactors are experts on a special era or battle within a historic war

period.

This is the Command Tent from which the Colors of the Unit flew. Posted on the bulletin board

is the public announcement soliciting enlistment for the Civil War and stating what the wages were

to be a soldier in the Union Army.

Here is a carefully crafted replica of an officers field desk,

complete with several typical documents of importance.

The enlisted soldiers were camped away from the officers and command tent.

A private relaxes on a trunk after cleaning his rifle (lying on his bed roll within his tent).

Some Revolutionary War Reenactors joined this public viewing event dressed for

thier favorite period.

Some typical items found on an officers field desk and a "current" copy of the New York Times.

Here some civilian women camp nearby the soldiers. It was not uncommon to see civilians

at the Army campsites which were not directly on the front lines.
