| What is Ham Radio?: Amateur Radio (nicknamed "ham radio") is the greatest hobby in the world! Ham radio operators use a variety of different radio frequencies to make friends with people all over the world, communicate over orbiting space satellites, and provide emergency communications during disasters. |
| In the United States, Amateur Radio is administered
by the Federal Communications
Commission. The FCC requires hams show competency and knowledge
of electronics, radio frequency safety, operating procedures, and basic rules
and regulations by passing different written and Morse Code proficiency exams.

I thought I would let you know which of these programs I use at my station. I have settled on the MMTTY and MMSSTV software for use with my sound card. In addition, I use DigiPan for PSK31. I found these programs to be easy to configure and use. A new addition to my software collection is N1MM free contesting software www.n1mm.com . I recently purchased the computer interface for my Kenwood TS-140 radio from the Piexx Company http://www.piexx.com . Using N1MM and my computer really helps me in contesting, as well as generally finding new DX stations from the Internet DX spotting. It also support RTTY using the MMTTY engine and PSK31. I keep trying programs, and you may find other programs more to your liking. |
