Field Day is a special type of contest, the complete rules being available on the ARRL Web Site. The Club has participated for many years, improving our standings each year.
Field day is about preparing for Emergency Communications. Building a station from scratch and operating it for a 24 hour period is the focus of the event, generators and portable antennas are used exclusively. The Club owns a portable antenna mounted to a trailer which you can see in the pictures in the links. The Club members supply the rest of the equipment in order to participate.
This event occurs on the fourth full weekend in June. Station
construction can begin no later than 2:00 pm Friday and operation
can commence no later than 2:00 pm Saturday and runs all night
until midday Sunday. By then, we usually have some tired operators.
The public is invited to observe and partake in our operations,
so please check out a field day station near you.
