STATIC
A MONTHLY PUBLICATION OF THE STARVED ROCK RADIO CLUB
PRESIDENT KB9JTL VICE PRESIDENT NZ9A
SECRETARY KF9NZ TREASURER WB9VLW
A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT
At the last meeting of the SRRC we had some good discussions about my proposed dues structure changes. Elsewhere in this issue of STATIC is the by-law committee report on changes which need to be made to the constitution and by-laws in order to implement this plan. We will have some discussion on the plan and vote on the amendments at the February meeting.
Also at the last meeting there were several new committees formed. Some of the jobs were already being preformed but not under a committee title. Please give your support to the club by signing up to help with duties of these committees especially the committiees that deal with the subjects you are passionate about. At the February meeting I would like to disscuss how these committees can better serve us by having separate meetings during the month and then report to general membership at the regular meeting. The date and time of all committee meetings will need to be published so any member can attend. There can be discussions about the committee reports at the regular meeting, but if it gets too lengthy or heated the matter will be sent back to commitee for consideration. At the annual budget commitee meeting I would like to give each commitee an appropriation of money to spend to accomplish their tasks.
Starting at the February meeting I would also like to have a fifteen minute break at around 8:30. This is get us out of those uncomfortable chairs, get a drink, get a smoke, or what ever else needs to be done. We can discuss starting the meeting at 7:15 if the ending time will be getting too late.
The amplifier is on the repeater and hopefully the interference issues are behind us. If you hear interference in the future let the repeater committee know with "DETAILS"!
73 for now. This is KB9JTL and I will be listening!!
MINUTES OF JANUARY MEETING
COMMITEE APPOINTMENTS BY NEW PRESIDENT
HIGHLIGHTS OF JANUARY MEETING
Members were reminded that renewing their ARRL membership through the Club is a source of income to the club. When YOUR membership renewal comes due, talk to Francis WB9VLW, our treasurer before you send it in direct.
The Special Event Station went very well and we received a new high in request for certificates. Over 80 requests were received by the end of the year, and more are expected. Those of us who attended enjoyed the time very much.
The QSL contest was won by W9ZEN. Next months target is K4GNU, China Grove N.C.
The electric door lock is still in trouble. Use the north door. The H.F. beam antenna is in trouble too. The inverted vee worked well for the special event.
We spent a lot of time talking about the repeater again. The rumored interference turned out to be a few bleeps and blurps heard by a few members. No one was able to provide any hard information, and there have not been any complaints from anyone. The La Salle County Sheriff was Specifically asked and there was none. Further discussion surrounded the possibility of moving the repeater, putting up a tower at Leonore again. See the announcement in this issue of "STATIC."
We are still getting calls (well, Buck is) from ADM about buying the property. They wont send us any letters or attend the meetings.
Mark, KB9JTL our president appointed the following standing commitee chairmanships.

REPEATER COMMITTEE MEETING
The repeater committee will meet at the clubhouse Monday evening , January 17 at 7:30 PM. If the only thing you have is a hammer, don’t come. If you have constructive ideas, and wish to actively assist in the maintainence of the repeater. be there. The idea is to teach several members a little about how the repeater works ( or fails to work ) and to formulate a proposal to improve it. BE WARNED: If you desire to be a member of this committee you must expect me to call on you to come help work on it.
