KARC is an ARRL Affiliate Club founded 48 years ago. Originally known as "The De Kalb Amateur Radio Club". In the mid 1970's a club Repeater "WA9CJN" was added, and the name of the club was changed to "Kishwaukee Amateur Radio Club". Group name, De Kalb County ARES. Present membership 27. Meetings are held at 0100z on the 4th Wednesday of each month at the De Kalb Chapter American Red Cross in De Kalb, Illinois. There is also an ARES Net on the KARC Repeater, 146.73 -/100pl, at 0100z every Thursday evening. You do not have to be an ARES member. All Hams in the area are welcome to check in. De Kalb County ARES is active in Emergency and Public Service Communications for the American Red Cross (De Kalb Chapter) De Kalb County. EOC, SKYWARN, MS Walk Crop Walk, March of Dimes, De Kalb Air Show and has been communications hub for Sycamore Pumpkin Festival for the past two years. ARES is open to all licensed Amateurs.
