My shack is located in the "Booming metropolis of
Fortville
, IN, located in the
northwest corner of
Hancock County
and just 5 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
Population was 3,412 in 1994. Moving here in 1996 was a big change for my
family. We had lived in a rural area of Boone County, IN for several years.
It was very rural. The entire telephone book for the exchage we were on,
(Mechanicsburg) was printed on both sides of ONE page in the phone book. We
feel very "urban" here, hi hi. I have been very impressed with the local
government. They do a good job with the resources they have.
My shack consists primarily of: a Kenwood TS450S HF rig and an old Icom IC27-H
2 meter rig. I also have a Kenwood 261 2 meter mobile that I occasionaly yak
on. I have been a ham since 1979 and mostly enjoy CW with novices and those
new to the hobby, although I also enjoy a good SSB contest now and then. I
would be happy to help anyone that I can to enjoy the hobby as much as I have.
If you would like to learn more boring infomation about
me,
you can see that by clicking
here.
I will not bore you with a long list of links to my favorite places, but I
would like, instead, to recommend just
one
list of links,
50 MHz Internet Six News
, which is one of the "most complete" lists of
useful
links that I am aware of.
I am member 1406 of the
FISTS CW Club
, which is really great, because they have no boring meetings to attend and are
great about helping others master CW.
While I have not had a tremendous amount of experience with radio repair businesses, but I would like to give my personal recommendation to Sandhills Technical Services. They have always been fair and honest with me. (And have helped me resolve several problems over the phone.)
I would be thrilled if you would write and tell me what you think of my page
and welcome any suggestions to improve it (or correct errors).
73 and Best of Luck to you,
Don & Sheila
By the way, I would like to thank
Animation Library
for most of the .GIF files used on my pages.

WELCOME TO MY HAMSHACK!
Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear how you happend to find me. Please Email me and let me know.
This is my first attempt at a web page, and I am having a bit of fun with it,
but
I am very unsure just how it will look on other browsers.
My wife, Sheila,
N9TTT
(what a great call sign for CW!) worked very hard to get her Technician
License, and I am very proud of her. I am not sure that she has been on any
radio since I got her a Cellular phone and CERTAINLY has never had a CW key
even near her hand. She is a Great person and a wonderful companion!
