Of course I can't get away from one of my passions,
HAM RADIO!!!
Here at W9COP I am running a
Yaesu FT-840, an AL-811 amp, an Icom IC-2100. Antennas include a Force 12 10 meter mono band,
up about 40 feet. I also have a Butternut H-6V that is ground mounted. I enjoy playing with
wire antennas, a double bazooka is in the works. I have a Yeasu FT-90 in my squad car, a
Icom IC-2000 in my pick-up, and a Yeasu FT-50 just to carry around.
I would love to have a 10 meter rig in the squad car, but space is limited.

I got started in EMS while working for the Sheriff's Office. Often we are called upon for
medical emergencies, accidents, and rescues. As McDonough County is a rural county, we have
a very good volunteer fire department/rescue system. I was invited to join the Industry Fire
Department. From there I took the EMT-A class. About all that did was feed my desire for more
education. I started a part time job with McDonough District Hospital's EMS system, and in 1998
I attended Carl Sandburg College for my Paramedic instruction. I now help teach CPR, and have
assisted teaching future Paramedics.
Sheriff's K-9 is a passion with me. I have had the honor of serving the citizens of McDonough
County with my dog, Rexbo, for the past 7 years. We have assisted several area Sheriff's
Departments, Police Departments, and the Illinois State Police. Rexbo has several large finds,
which have taken illegal drugs off our streets and put the people who deal in these substances
in jail.
