CLUB PICNIC and OSPOTA PARTICIPATION

The club's annual picnic is just about a week away (September 12th). We will be at Buckeye Lake again; same place as last year. A map and directions are below.

We all had a good time last year and we hope we have a great turnout this year again. Since there are a lot of new folks in the club this year please plan on getting a stick-on name tag so everyone will know who they are talking to.

To help us plan for the main dish we need to get an idea of how many to expect. So please Email Bill Erwin (N9CX) with a head count if you are planning on attending. We want to make sure we have plenty of food and refreshments for all.

The club will provide the main dish, drinks, tableware, etc as usual. Traditionally members bring a side dish that is shared by all. If you can bring a side dish let me know what it is and we will post it on the club's WEB site so everyone will not bring the same thing. We will be ready to eat between 12:30 and 1 PM.

We will be combining the Ohio State Parks On The AIR (OSPOTA) event with the club picnic as we did last year.
It looks like we will be on the air with phone, CW, & digital modes this year.

So bring the family out and join us for a great picnic and a little operating on the 12th. Hope to see you there!

GETTING THERE

Here is an overview of the area around Buckeye Lake including routes in the directions below:

Directions from the west:
From the eastern area of Columbus, including Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, etc. get to Rt. 70 East by your best route. Proceed east to Rt. 79 (exit 129 A) turn right (south) and proceed about 1 mile until the divided roadway ends. DO NOT go right at this point, but turn left into the parking lot area adjacent to the boat ramp and shelter. Our location is the first shelter and near Crystal Beach, on the west side of Crane Lake, which is connected to and just above the north shore of Buckeye Lake.

Directions from the northeast or northern regions of the Columbus area(Gahanna, New Albany, Westerville, etc.):
You have the choice of taking Rt. 161 which becomes Rt. 37 and then following it south out of Granville to Rt. 70 East, or taking Rt. 270 to Rt. 70 East and following the directions per above.
