OCARS Membership Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by President Jim Vigne, KB8TXZ. Jim welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked them to introduce themselves and state their call sign.
Secretary’s report – Secretary Mike Smith, announced that everyone had received the Minutes via email, and they had been posted to the Web Site. Motion by Ned Keating KD8FCB and seconded by Tim Pepper K8NWD to accept the meeting minutes. Accepted.
Treasurer’s report – John Eldred N8FNN gave the treasurer’s report. He reported that we had a balance of $662.16 on March 31st,we took in $160.00 in Dues, $22.00 from the coffee fund, paid out $14.44 for donuts and coffee supplies, cash on hand $20.00 checking account $268.31 savings account $373.85 for a total of $662.16 on March 31,2011 John stated that we now have 25 paid members. Motion by Tim Pepper K8NWD and seconded by Jo Miller KJ8O to accept the treasurer’s report. Accepted.
OLD BUSINESS
President Jim Vigne KB8TXZ made a comment that member Woody Simmons WD8LYB was going to set OCARS up on a face book account and that it had been accomplished and was up and running
Mike Smith N8GUZ commented on House Bill 607 and stated that if you had not done so to please send your letter in to support this bill to save our 70cm band frequencies
President Jim Vigne KB8TXZ asked if everyone present at the meeting was receiving OCARS Notices and Emails and if not please make sure that we have their Email address so they could receive OCARS correspondence President Jim Vigne KB8TXZ said last month he was asked about getting OCARS set up with PayPal. He reported he had checked into it and if we wanted to have OCARS on PayPal it would not be a problem to get set up and he would pass the information on to Treasurer John Eldred N8FNN
OCARS President Vigne KB8TXZ verified that the NEW OCARS club banner is still safe in an undisclosed location in an underground bunker and that we are still looking for our OLD OCARS club banner.
NEW BUSINESS
President Jim Vigne KB8TXZ brought up that Hank Kohl’s K8DD memorial was being held April 9th at the Thomas Edison Inn 2:00pm

We had two presentations for the evening Nic Ewing N8QQS gave a very informative presentation about the ALE (Automatic Link Establishment) radio used by the Civil Air Patrol
President Jim Vigne KB8TXZ gave his presentation on the VQ5D DXpedition to Turks and Caicos on the air February 15th to February 23rd . The team worked the ARRL CW contest as VQ5D in memory of their 4th team member Hank Kohl K8DD the team of VP5/KB8TXZ Jim, VP5/AC8W Stan, and VP5/N8LJ Lee made a very good showing in the contest
