Club Membership And Information Page

Membership Information

Calling All Amateurs ! Membership in the Massillon Amateur Radio Club can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. We are a diverse radio hobbyist club that is active in many facets of Amateur Radio.  Membership in the MARC means involvement in numerous club activities and enjoying many club benefits including .....

Club Activities

Operating Events.   We participate in numerous local and national events to keep our operating skills razor sharp. Among these is Field Day. This event is where we and other clubs from around the U.S. take their equipment to the great outdoors. The idea is to practice setting up and operating under less than ideal conditions and try to contact as many other participants as possible in a 24 hour period. We also sponsor a Hamfest in the fall, a huge fleamarket of radio and computer equipment.

Monthly club meetings. We meet on the first Friday of the month at the Massillon Senior Citizens Center which is located in downtown Massillon starting at 8:00 PM. We conduct a business meeting followed by a break for coffee, pop and donuts. Then the fun really begins as we host monthly programs which can be interesting video's to guest speakers to technical demonstrations. Our program chairman always has something new and interesting for us every month.

Public Service.   We serve our local community by assisting in many public service events. We volunteer to provide communications for walk-a-thons, bike races, plus many other community events. Examples of such events are The Pro Football Hall of Fame Parade, The Greater Ohio Bicycle Adventure, Corporate Cup plus many other local events.

Repeaters.  As part of our emergency preparedness we sponsor and maintain several amateur repeaters. We currently maintain two repeaters, one is on 147.18 Mhz and is located approximately 170 feet on top of an old railroad relay tower. This wide area coverage repeater has also been chosen to provide backup communications to Stark County in the event the primary ARES Repeater should fail. Our other repeater is on 442.85 Mhz and is located at Massillon Community Hospital and is used during Skywarn activation. Both are used for our enjoyment and when necessary for emergency communications.

Newsletters.  The MARC publishes an award winning monthly newsletter - FEEDBACK - which serves to keep our membership informed of current club news, local & national operating events, national amateur radio news, member activities plus lots of other great information. Keep up-to-date with this great member benefit !

Membership in the MARC is all these things plus many more such as club dinners, outings, amateur radio classes, Skywarn training, technical assistance, a radio library, and the list goes on an on !
