MWA Participates in March of Dimes Walk-a-Thon

Sunday, May 4, 1997, MWA members provided radio communications for the March of Dimes Walk-a-Thon. Everyone had a good time. In addition to the good time, there was good food at the end of the walk. Thanks to all who participated.

VE TESTING

The MWA VE team held a test session on April 24, 1997. Eight persons took examinations, and seven received upgrades or passed an element. Examinees earned three Technician Class licenses, one General Class license, and two Advanced Class licenses. The VEs were: KX2A, KB8VVT, N8HGL, W8PT, N8TA, and N8MUE.

The next session will be on Thursday, June 26, 1997, at 7 PM. Contact Jan, KX2A, to register at (412) 324-9160 or [email protected] or KX2A@W8SP.

All amateurs are urged to hurry and upgrade now, and especially to take the Morse code tests. If you wait too long, they will eliminate the code requirement, and there goes your chance to brag. And by the way, if you think that a SINGLE-contact Morse key is hard to master, and a DOUBLE-contact paddle keyer is even harder to master, speak to N8TA and W8PT about their ONE-HUNDRED-AND-FOUR-contact Morse code input devices; talk about hotshots.......
